Zenith - Pilot - Ohne mindestpreis - Herren - 1950-1959

Beautiful Steel Zenith Pilot Watch from 1947 – “Zenith Pilot” Engraved Caseback The story of Zenith began in 1865, when Georges Favre-Jacot founded the manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland. At only 22 years of age, he revolutionized Swiss watchmaking by bringing together all stages of production under one roof. By uniting independent craftsmen into a single integrated manufacture, he laid the foundations of modern Swiss luxury watch production. Within a few decades, Zenith had grown into an internationally recognized name known for precision and innovation. The name “Zenith” was inspired by the highest point in the sky. One evening, while observing a brilliant constellation, Favre-Jacot saw a parallel between the harmony of celestial bodies and the precision of mechanical watch movements. He chose the name to symbolize the ultimate peak of excellence, and the star became the enduring emblem of the brand. Zenith holds a genuine place in aviation history. The brand registered the term “Pilot” as early as 1888, long before aviation became widespread. During the pioneering decades of flight, Zenith produced reliable and highly legible watches intended for professional use. Pilot watches were designed as functional instruments, emphasizing clarity, robustness, and dependable performance, all crucial elements for navigation and precise timekeeping in the air. The present example is a beautiful steel Zenith Pilot watch from 1947. Importantly, the “Zenith Pilot” engraving is located on the caseback, confirming its original pilot designation. This makes it a true pilot watch, not merely a stylistic interpretation. The watch features a very attractive dial with excellent legibility, a solid stainless steel case typical of the period, and a quality leather strap that perfectly complements its aviation character. The movement is working properly. The case size is 34 mm measured without the crown, a classic and well-balanced size for a 1940s pilot wristwatch. A historically significant and collectible aviation timepiece from one of Switzerland’s most respected manufactures.
