Discover Loukine in his museum in Arsonval...
A bit of Rostislas Loukine's Russian soul remains in Arsonval in the museum that this village in the Aube has dedicated to him. Born Russian, Belgian by nationality, this painter felt French at heart as he liked to say.
It was in 1933 that he acquired on the heights of Proverville, a village near Bar-sur-Aube, a "cabin" which he named Bogy Dar (gift from God). An eclectical painter, his production is intense and his work very varied.
The artist explores all subjects and all techniques. Loukine's works are populated by great sacred figures and icons, scenes drawn from tales and legends, landscapes traversed during his exile and travels, but also slices of life, or portraits such as those of his friend Nicolas de Staël, or the philosopher Gaston Bachelard."
