It comes from meteorologist Edward Lorenz, who discovered in the 1960s that tiny differences in initial conditions—like rounding a number from 0.506127 to 0.506—could completely change the results of weather simulations. This led to the famous metaphor: A butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can set off a tornado in Texas. At its core, the butterfly effect is about sensitivity, interconnection, and unseen consequences. Nothing exists in isolation; every action, no matter how small, participates in a larger system.
