This is an early non-TBS version Maxon CS-550 Stereo Chorus made in Japan around 1999. This unit features the original circuit design produced prior to the later TBS (True Bypass Switching) models and represents the original specification of the CS-550. Developed under the supervision of renowned Japanese guitarist Char (Hisato Takenaka), the CS-550 was designed to deliver a deep, dimensional stereo chorus sound with rich width and strong presence. The pedal has been carefully cleaned, inspected, and fully tested. It operates perfectly using the dedicated 10V adapter, as designed. All controls function smoothly, and there is no unwanted noise during operation. The DEPTH potentiometer previously showed slight scratchiness, but it has been removed, internally cleaned, and treated with contact cleaner. After servicing, it operates smoothly without noise. All electronic components remain original. No parts have been replaced.
