Description:
This work features a beach hut emphasized in black, with the waves colored from grey to blue. It is a woodblock print based on the "Toseiga" technique, which brings the sharp lines of paper-cutting into the medium of woodblock printing.
Artist Profile:
Masayuki Miyata (1926-1997) was born in Tokyo. From 1963, he worked on book illustrations before establishing "Toseiga," a style where a single sheet of paper is cut with a single blade. He created a unique aesthetic characterized by sharpness and gloss. He passed away in 1997.
