Eisen-Sukashi-Tsuba aus der Edo-Zeit – Anker (Ikari) Motiv – 63 mm – 7 mm Dick – Maritimes Thema - Gusseisen - Japan - Edo-Zeit (1600-1868)
A substantial iron sukashi tsuba, attributed to the Edo period (18th–19th century), featuring a distinctive anchor (ikari) motif executed in openwork.
The rounded-square (kaku-maru gata) form combined with maritime symbolism reflects themes associated with coastal domains and seafaring culture in Japan. Anchor motifs are relatively uncommon and add character to this piece.
The plate is notably thick at 7 mm, giving the guard a strong and powerful presence. The iron surface displays a deep brown patina developed over time, with natural wear and oxidation consistent with age.
Unsigned (mumei).
