Bizen ware is one of Japan’s traditional ceramic styles, fired at high temperatures without glaze. Its appeal lies in the natural textures created by the clay and the effects of the kiln firing process. This piece features the characteristic “Hidasuki” pattern, where rice straw is wrapped around the vessel before firing. The interaction between the straw ash and iron in the clay produces the distinctive reddish linear markings resembling flame traces. The original wooden box and the accompanying leaflet identify the work as a piece by Tokunaga Osamu of Nanzan Kiln. The base is also impressed with the seal “Osamu.” Well suited as a flower vessel for ikebana or as a decorative object in a Japanese interior. Good vintage condition overall. The vase shows minor kiln-related irregularities along the rim inherent to the firing process and not considered damage. The wooden box and accompanying leaflet show minor blemishes and age-related wear, and the box lid has slight warping. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx. H 21.2 cm W 9.5 cm D 9.5 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
