Antique French Silver Oil & Vinegar Cruet Set – Paris, mid-19th century
Elegant oil and vinegar cruet set in solid silver, France, Paris, mid-19th century, executed in refined Louis XV / Rococo Revival style.
The silver stand is fully hallmarked with the French Minerva head, 1st standard (950/1000 silver) and bears the master silversmith’s mark “F crowned P”, attributed to François‑Louis Piault, registered in Paris and active between 1845 and 1857.
In addition, the piece carries the Belgian import hallmark, used between 1831 and 1868, confirming its early circulation outside France.
The stand is richly shaped with flowing contours, scroll feet and a central baluster stem with an elegant carrying handle. It holds two original glass bottles, each fitted with a silver-mounted collar and stopper, intended for oil and vinegar service at the table.

Very good antique condition. Minor surface wear and light traces of use consistent with age. Glass bottles are intact and fit well in the silver mounts. I don t think they are original bottles but they fit in.
Originally designed for oil and vinegar service, this piece also works beautifully as a decorative table centre, reflecting the elegance of mid-19th-century French dining culture. A highly decorative and collectible example of Parisian silver craftsmanship, suitable for collectors of fine French silver or refined interiors.
