This work depicts an owl in a frontal pose, rendered in a charmingly naive and simplified style. Its large, round eyes are highly distinctive and instantly recognizable. The feathers are printed in a vibrant rainbow gradient (turquoise, green, indigo, violet, pink), with bold, rustic lines that retain the distinct texture of hand‑carved woodblocks. The overall aesthetic is bright and playful. In Japanese culture, the owl (fukurō / 梟) is regarded as a “lucky bird” (fukuchō / 福鳥), symbolizing wisdom, good fortune, and protection. It is also believed to ward off evil and bring good luck. The work bears the artist’s red seal “Yūbu (遊武)” at the lower right. This piece comes with a wooden frame and glass panel.
