Samurai Armor by Third-Generation Artisan “Takehito(武人)” – Custom Yusoku Tailoring, Kyoto-Dyed Pure Silk, Vermilion Lacing – for Tangono-sekku (No Reserve Price) This samurai armor was created for Tango no Sekku (Boys’ Day, celebrated in May), a traditional Japanese festival. It is a special custom-made piece (Yusoku-betsu atsurae:有職別誂) crafted using high-quality pure silk threads dyed in Kyoto. “Yusoku-betsu atsurae” refers to a bespoke item made in accordance with historically accurate and formal traditions. This armor is based on the classical form of the O-yoroi (great armor) from the Heian and Kamakura periods—styles that are designated as National Treasures in Japan. It was crafted by the third-generation armorer Takehito, who infused the work with his own refined aesthetic sense.
