A rare 1929 postal cover bearing Hong Kong KGV 4c red stamp cancelled in 28 Mar 1929 posted to Calif US with postal due "T" mark and "Postal due 6cents Seattle, Wash.", and bearing extra US 1 c & 5c stamp duty stamps with overprinted San Pedro Calif. Provenance: Ex-Walter G. Crosby Collection since 1928 d.1947 (collector stamp on back) ------------------------ Info of Walter(see last two images) Walter Garfield Crosby, (1881-1947) left an indelible mark on the world of philately as a pioneering cachetmaker. His unique cachets, often adorned with colorful thermographic printing and small black and white photographs, set him apart and made his work easily recognizable. Crosby's cachets are highly regarded by collectors, and he was voted the top cachetmaker of the 1930s by members of the American First Day Cover Society. Until now there has not been a published comprehensive catalog dedicated to Crosby’s first day cover cachets. This volume is the fifth and final part of a series that focuses on Crosby’s United States first day cover activity. It covers the final part of the World War II years and includes many patriotic cachets used on first day covers. Additionally, it continues with Crosby's final cachets prior to his death in 1947 as well as the continued production of cachets by his widow until 1949. With over 900 color images, one can see the depth and quality which made him such a popular cachetmaker. Crosby's cachets remain a testament to his creativity and innovation.
