A set of classic retro-style black lacquered samurai armor (yoroi) from the Showa era, decorated with light green and orange ropes (kuro’urushinuri iroiro’ito hi’suso nimai’dô tôsei gusoku). It originated from the artisan Kagemitsu. Kagemitsu was a famous armorer during the Showa era. A ten-piece star-shaped helmet (adorned with domed rivets), fitted with long brass shovel-shaped horns and a sword-shaped front stand decorated with black openwork scrollwork. It features a five-layered chrysanthemum-shaped decorative top, a two-layered plate-like neck guard, and a large, backward-curving mask edged with light-colored smoked leather and decorated with chrysanthemum (kiku) shapes. An "Angry Man" mask (a type of mask with a gruesome appearance), featuring a separate nose bridge with a long white beard and four layers of plate-like cut-and-place shovels. Shoulder armor: Large, composed of six layers of "banzha" (armor plates), decorated with light green and orange double-layered silk cords and decorative tassels. Wrist guards: Shino type, made of metal plates connected by chainmail (armor locks), made of light-colored patterned silk. Yellow silk belt (uwa’obi). Leg armor (haidate), four rows of black and gold lacquered kiritsuke kozane, placed on top of the matching silk, decorated with leather trim. Girdle armor (suneate), "Shino" style, composed of vertical metal plates connected by chainmail (kaushi-gusari), and equipped with a matching tateage. Complete with a square black lacquered store-box for a suit-of armour (yoroi’bako). The front of the store-box decorated with the character mae 前 (“in front”) in gold.
