A fantastic wooden mizuya’dansu 水屋箪笥 (kitchen cabinet) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed. The frame is made of precious Japanese hinoki cypress wood, with the front panels crafted from keyaki (zelkova – Japanese oak), and the side panels from sugi (cedar) wood. The entire cabinet is finished in a sought-after warm brown hue often referred to as ‘golden oak.’ The upper section features two pairs of sliding doors with keyaki panels and gilt brass flower-shaped thumb grips, set above another pair of sliding doors adorned with elegant latticework backed with metal mesh. Below are three adjacent drawers fitted with brass warabite-shaped bail handles. The lower section is configured with another pair of panel-sliding doors, two drawers, and a hinged door fitted with three horizontal slats—one of which cleverly functions as a locking mechanism by sliding sideways. The sides are fitted with study horizontal bars.
