Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
竹内幸斎 Takeuchi Kosai (b1944)
Born in Yamanaka-cho, Ishikawa Prefecture. Winner of the Ishikawa Craft Lacquer Ware Exhibition. He won many awards for his lacquerware and maki-e works.
Crafted with the refined precision for which Takeuchi Kosai (b.1944) is known, this large lacquer natsume presents a serene pair of curled jade‑rabbit motifs rendered in warm gold and soft red maki‑e that glow gently against the deep black surface. The rounded form feels calm and balanced in the hand, while the smooth, high‑gloss finish reflects the quiet discipline of Yamanaka lacquer traditions. Each rabbit is drawn with a minimal, almost meditative line, giving the piece a sense of stillness rather than ornamentation. The accompanying wooden box underscores its status as a carefully made tea‑ceremony utensil, preserving the caddy with the same respect given to its craftsmanship. Subtle, elegant, and immediately inviting, the piece embodies Kosai’s award‑winning ability to merge playful symbolism with disciplined technique, resulting in a natsume that feels both contemporary in its clarity and deeply rooted in classical lacquer artistry.
