Römisches Reich Bronze Alter nahöstlicher/asiatischer Bronze-Siegelring mit symbolischem Motiv, ca. 2. – 4. Jh. v. Chr. (Ohne mindestpreis)

Ancient Near Eastern / Asiatic Bronze Signet Ring with Symbolic Motif c. 2nd Century BC – 4th Century AD An intriguing ancient bronze signet ring, attributed to the Near Eastern / Asiatic cultural sphere, dating approximately from the late Hellenistic to early Sasanian period (c. 2nd century BC – 4th century AD). The ring features an oval bezel engraved with an abstract symbolic motif, composed of intersecting and radiating elements arranged within a circular border. Such designs are characteristic of Mesopotamian and Iranian-influenced signet traditions, where symbolic or astral imagery was commonly used for protective, administrative, or personal identity purposes, rather than purely decorative ends. The engraving is intentionally stylised and schematic, suggesting the ring was intended for sealing or symbolic use, rather than representational art. The surface retains a naturally developed dark green patina, with wear consistent with age and long-term use. Rings of this type were worn by officials, merchants, or individuals of status, and served both as personal adornment and functional seals. Details: Material: Bronze Culture: Near Eastern / Asiatic (possibly Mesopotamian or Iranian sphere) Date: c. 2nd century BC – 4th century AD Ring size: approx. S/T Inner diameter: approx. 20.4 mm Condition: Very good for age; original patina, age-related wear Important notice: This ring is offered as an ancient artefact. While wearable, prolonged contact with the skin may gradually affect the patina, particularly on the inner band. A rare and enigmatic ancient ring, rich in symbolic character and ideal for collectors interested in Near Eastern antiquities, early signet traditions, or ancient symbolic art. ***** Dear bidders, please note that we do not ship to the UK or to countries outside the European Union. If you are located outside the EU and win this lot, the sale will unfortunately have to be cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Enjoy the bidding.
