Masao Ido expresses this delicate and emotional winter scene through the woodblock print technique. Artist Profile: 1945: Born in Manchuria. 1960: Moved to Kyoto. 1972: Started creating woodblock prints. 1973: Selected for the Japan Print Association Exhibition, the Nichido Print Grand Prix, and received the Sanki-kai Newcomer's Award. 1983: "Three-Person Exhibition of 100 Views of Kyoto Woodblock Prints" with Tomikichiro Tokuriki and Clifton Karhu. 1990: Solo exhibition in Chicago. Specially invited artist at the Graz Art Association Exhibition in Austria. 1993: Solo exhibition at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi to commemorate the NHK drama "Ryukyu no Kaze." 1999: Established the NPO Hanamaki Cultural Village and became Chairman. 2003: Created original designs for "Kyoto Events" hometown stamps. Solo exhibition at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kyoto. 2004: Work acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. 2006: Work acquired by the Library of Congress, USA. 2007: Appeared on NHK World TV "Begin Japanology." 2016: Passed away.
