Karmesinrot glasiertes Porzellanvasen mit gerüschtem Rand von Baba Shin'emon - Porzellan - Baba Shin'emon / 馬場真右衛門 (1952–) - Japan - Shōwa Zeit (1926-1989)

Description: A porcelain vase with a compressed, globular body, defined by its deep red cinnabar glaze and a softly undulating white rim. The form settles low and wide, with the surface drawing attention inward toward the center, where the oxblood red gathers with density before easing outward. From this central red, the glaze transitions gradually into a lavender-purple tone along the sides, revealing the nuanced effects of copper reduction during firing. Across the surface, fine and closely set speckles emerge beneath a high-gloss finish, allowing light to move across the body with subtle variation. The neck rises narrowly before opening into a flared, wave-like rinka rim. Along this edge, the white porcelain body appears beneath the glaze, tracing the contours of the rim’s movement. The foot is slightly recessed, concluding in a clean, circular base in white. Dimensions: Diameter: 18 cm Height: 13.0 cm Weight: 830 grams Condition: No chips, cracks or restorations. Artist Profile: Baba Shin'emon / 馬場真右衛門 (1952–) A prominent contemporary ceramic artist based in Arita, Saga Prefecture, specializing in high-fire monochrome glazes. He is the founder of the Shin'emon Kiln and is widely recognized for his mastery of difficult glaze techniques, particularly Shinsha (cinnabar) and Tenmoku. His work has been frequently selected for the prestigious Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) and the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. He is known for achieving "ruby-like" reds through precise control of the reduction firing process. His exhibition history includes solo shows at major Japanese department stores such as Mitsukoshi and Takashimaya.
