Description: A small, gold-plated metal zushi houses a seated figure of Amida Nyorai. The figure sits on a lotus pedestal, with a radiating halo rising behind it. The double doors open to reveal the interior; on their exterior, two phoenixes are rendered in relief, flying among clouds. The shrine is set on a black-painted base, where gilt floral and foliate motifs extend across the surface. Dimensions: Width: 6 cm Depth: 4.5 cm Height: 9 cm Weight: 374 g Condition: No original wooden box (tomobako) is included. Stains, surface scratches, discoloration, and areas of gold plating loss are present throughout. The right door is slightly warped. About Amida Nyorai (Amitabha): Amida Nyorai, or Amitabha Buddha, is a principal deity in Mahayana Buddhism and is widely venerated in the Japanese Pure Land tradition. He is typically depicted in a simple monastic robe without elaborate ornamentation, in contrast to bodhisattvas.
