Afrikanische handgeschnitzte Holzkelle mit anthropomorphischem Griff – Stammeskunst K104-1 - Baule / Dan-Stil - Subsahara-Afrika (Ohne mindestpreis)
A striking hand-carved wooden scoop featuring an anthropomorphic handle in the form of a stylized human head. The elongated bowl and elegant proportions give the piece a strong sculptural presence.
The face is rendered in a refined, minimalist style with closed eyes, a narrow nose, and softly defined lips, typical of various Central and West African carving traditions. The geometric incisions near the transition between handle and bowl add further decorative and symbolic character.
Such objects were traditionally used as ceremonial or domestic scoops for grains, flour, or other foodstuffs, but also held cultural and artistic significance beyond their utilitarian function.
The surface shows a beautiful, deep brown patina with visible wear, scratches, and handling marks consistent with age and use. The interior of the bowl displays clear tool marks and signs of prolonged use.
A highly decorative and collectible example of African tribal art, combining functionality with expressive craftsmanship.
