In 1965 and 1967, she visited Okinawa twice for interviews. At the time, he was not allowed to travel to Okinawa under the title of “photographer,” and was told that “bringing a camera into the country would not guarantee your life,” but he was determined to take photographs. A U.S. soldier just standing there in front of a dead body. Local police officers unable to do anything. Undeterred by the irrationality of the situation, I took these photos with tears in my eyes, overcoming the restraints of those around me. They were published through the hands of a photographer who returned to the mainland in secret, and became a catalyst for people on the mainland to seriously consider the reversion of Okinawa to Japan.
