A charming patinated bronze miniature Buddhist temple bell 梵鐘 (bônshô).
The bell is surmounted by a handle formed as a pair of mirrored phoenixes 鳳凰 (hô’ô). The body is encircled by an embossed band featuring a taotie 饕餮 motif, a stylised mythical beast of Chinese origin, traditionally associated with ritual bronzes.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912–1926)
