A solid wooden Go-game table 碁盤 (goban) with a set of go-stones 碁石 (go-ishi). The broad top is made of solid wood. Raised by four faceted baluster feet.
Complete with go-stones 碁石 (go-ishi) in lidded containers. The boxes are made of Kurogaki (Japanese Black Persimmon). The white stones are carved from hamaguri 蛤 (clam shell), while the black stones are made from Nachiguroishi 那智黒石, a fine slate from Kumano in Mie Prefecture.
The underside with dated inscription: ‘Gift’ 贈, ‘Kenyûkai Association’ 建友会, ‘An auspicious day in June 1979 (Shōwa 54)’ 昭和五十四年六月吉日
The table is in a good condition with traces of use, and the top is entirely re-coated. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
