Wasserkrug im Negoro-nuri-Stil für heißes Wasser - Lackiertes Holz - Japan - Taishō Zeit (1912-1926)
A refined Negoro-nuri style yutô 湯桶 (ewer for hot water), executed in red lacquer over a black ground.
The cylindrical body tapers slightly towards the base and is set on flared, scalloped feet with openwork floral scrolls. The surface is articulated with horizontal bands in low relief, rising to a sloping shoulder and an extended neck. The long, elegant spout emerges from a chrysanthemum-form floret and curves upward in a smooth line.
The arched handle is of mokkô form, with subtle floral bud terminals, complementing the lobed cover, which is finished with a melon-shaped finial.
The overall design reflects Momoyama period aesthetics, here produced in the Taishô period.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912–1926), in Momoyama style
