Minton - Figur - Early Victorian Staffordshire poodle - Porzellan
An Early Victorian Staffordshire porcelain Poodle dog figurine, made by Minton.
England - 1930s
A crouching poodle with an object in its mouth, resting on a yellow cushion base with a gold-colored trim. Porcelain featuring a "shredded clay" or "sieved clay" coat to mimic the curly texture of poodle fur.
Rectangular, quilted cushion base, in pale yellow with a gilded line.
The number 95 on the base identifies this poodle as being made by the famous Minton factory.
Records from the Moorabool Antique Galleries identify "95" as an impressed mark used by Minton around 1835 for this exact model of a poodle.
Height = 7.5 cm
Length = 11.3 cm
Weight = 180 g
In fair condition. Normal traces of age and use. The tail was glued back on in a sloppy way (see photo 9). There is a faint hairline on the yellow cushion part of the base. This is not visible from the bottom. (see photo 8).
