Wabi Earth — Edo-Zeit E-Karatsu Teeschale mit Eisen-Pinselstrichen - Steinzeug - Japan - Edo-Zeit (1600-1868)

Item Description: Ko-Karatsu E-Karatsu Tea Bowl with Box — Edo Period (1603–1868) A refined ko-Karatsu (antique Karatsu ware) chawan (tea bowl) of the e-Karatsu type, produced during the Edo period in the Hizen region of Kyushu. E-Karatsu — literally "picture Karatsu" — is distinguished by bold iron-oxide brushwork painted directly onto the clay body beneath a transparent feldspathic glaze, a technique that embodies the Japanese wabi aesthetic celebrated in the tea ceremony saying "ichi-Raku, ni-Hagi, san-Karatsu" (first Raku, second Hagi, third Karatsu). This example presents a warm, sandy clay body with natural glaze pooling and the characteristic understated beauty that has made Karatsu ware among the most prized of all Japanese tea ceramics. The form is hand-thrown and slightly irregular — a hallmark of its authenticity and age. Comes with a wooden storage box (hako-tsuki). An accessible and genuine piece of Edo-period Japanese ceramic history. Size Height: 7.8 cm Width: 13.4 cm Depth: 13.1 cm Condition In good overall condition with only minimal age-related micro-scratches and light surface wear consistent with its age; no chips or cracks noted. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
