A charming and authentic collection of 9 original pianola music rolls, produced by the renowned Aeolian Company under the “Themodist” system and dating from the early 20th century. These rolls are a fine example of early mechanical music technology and were designed for use in player pianos (pianolas). The “Themodist” system was an important innovation, allowing enhanced musical expression by automatically emphasising the melody line. The lot includes a varied selection of compositions, combining classical and popular repertoire. Visible titles include Estampes No. 2 by Debussy, Fantaisie Brillante by Leybach, Gondoliers Potpourri by Sullivan, Mazurka Op. 42 No. 3 by Liadov, and Put Your Shoes on Lucy by Hank Fort. All rolls retain their original printed sleeves, featuring decorative early 20th century graphic design with Art Nouveau influence.
