Kato Shoko 加藤松香 - Schüssel - Töpferware - Kirschblüten-Stream

加藤松香 Kato Shoko Ceramic artist. Began creating pottery in the Kyoto-yaki coloured-glaze style in 1968. In 1974, adopting the artistic name Shōkō, he established his own kiln specialising in tea ceremony ware. He produces many vibrant works using traditional Kyoto-yaki coloured-glaze techniques, such as gold decoration and coloured glazes. with seal 'Shoko' 松香 The cream‑coloured body of this Ninsei‑style tea bowl is wrapped in a flow of cherry blossom petals that seem to drift along a stylised current, the pink, red and white flowers and their dark accents circling both exterior and interior in a continuous movement that recalls classical Kyoto design while reflecting Kato Shoko’s long practice with Kyoto‑yaki coloured‑glaze work since 1968 and his later focus on tea‑ceremony ware after establishing his own kiln in 1974, the seal “Shoko” marking the piece as part of that sustained career, and the bowl feels like the kind of vessel that will slip naturally into use—brought out on days when a quiet sense of spring is needed at the table, its pattern becoming more familiar with each gathering, all kept together with its tomobako. 加藤松香 Kato Shoko Kyo ware 'Ninsei style Cherry Blossom Petals Flowing Down River Tea Bowl' with Original Box (Tomobako) Box dimensions: 5.8" x 5.8" x 4.8" / 14.8cm x 14.8cm x 12.4cm Tea Bowl dimensions: 4.8" x 4.8" x 3.1" / 12.2cm x 12.2cm x 8cm Material: Pottery Weight: 520g including Original box (Tomobako) Condition Antique items have originally crease, stain, damage, and more.
