Chinese porcelain perfume bottle with silver mounts –China- Kangxi, early 18th Century
On offer is a wonderful Chinese porcelain perfume bottle from the Kangxi period. Originally this vase has been imported by the Dutch East India Company VOC as étagère or cabinet vase, in the beginning of the 18th Century. It is decorated all around with branches of plum blossom in underglaze blue, making a great contrast with the creamy white porcelain. It has a nice trimmed footrim typically for the Kangxi period. Remarkable that the original inside small cork-stopper is still there!
Note; Chinese porcelain was often embellished with silver in the Netherlands, in the mid-19th century. In this case the silver mounts are marked with Dutch quality mark “Roman sword” and Year-capital V, for 1855.
Date: Kangxi period 1662-1722 ca. 1700.
Size: Measures 11 cm in height. Belly measures app. 5,5 cm across.
Condition: Excellent! No damage! No chips, no frits, no hairlines!
