Hawkes & Son - Excelsior Sonorous Class A - - Tenorposaune - Vereinigtes Königreich - 1917 (Ohne mindestpreis)

Hawkes & Son "Excelsior Sonorous" Class A Collector's Tenor Trombone - Circa 1917 A rare piece of British musical heritage is being offered for auction: a tenor trombone made by the famous London-based Hawkes & Son workshop. This instrument is part of the luxury "Excelsior Sonorous" range, being classified as "Class A", a mark attesting to the highest quality of materials and workmanship of that era. Historical Details and Authenticity: Dating: According to the serial number 45741, the instrument was manufactured in the period 1917-1918, right during the First World War. The original engraving mentions the historical address of the workshop: Denman Street, Piccadilly Circus, London. This is the golden age of the brand, before the merger with Boosey (1930). Design Features and Condition: Artistic Engraving: The highlight of this instrument is the intricate floral engraving, hand-crafted throughout the entire surface of the funnel and on the connecting rings. The details are extremely well preserved, proving the craftsmanship of the London artisans. Material: The instrument features a silver-plated (or high-quality alpaca) finish with a superb authentic patina, which has not been altered by aggressive polishing. Components: The slide is complete and retains the original water valve mechanism, which in turn is decorated with engravings. Technical Specifications: Type: Tenor Trombone (small bore), specific to the early 20th century British playing style. Accessories: Sold without mouthpiece and without carrying case (will be professionally packaged for maximum protection during shipping). Note for collectors: This is an ideal piece for restoration or to be displayed in a private collection of historical musical instruments. The aesthetic condition of the engraving is remarkable for an object over 100 years old. Total size 130 cm, Funnel size 19 cm, weight 1.5 kg. Please view the images carefully before bidding. Thank you!
