Nimba (also known as D'mba) is the most iconic artistic and spiritual expression of the Baga people, who inhabit the coastal region of the Republic of Guinea, in West Africa. Highly valued as a work of art, it was part of Picasso's private collection.

The Nimba mask represents the mother of fertility, who protects pregnant women and presides over all agricultural ceremonies. Large Nimba masks can be found in the collections of major museums around the world.

The mask (statuette) shown here is made of fine wood and has been perfectly polished.
