Kamm (4) - einheimische Baumwolle, Samen, Knochen, Federn, Palmholz - Wai Wai Indische Artefakte
Here for sale is collection of Wai Wai artifacts consisting of 2 combs(Wayamakasi), 1 Male Hair Accessory(Miso) and 1 decorative Seed Belt.
The Wayamakasi combs are used exclusively by adult women of the tribe, and only during rituals. The combs were mainly used as hair holders and have intricately hand weaved cotton designs.
The Miso male hair accessory is constructed of a seed decorated tube that was worn at the end of a mans braid.
The seed belt was worn in ceremonies.
I personally collected these artifacts whilst living with the Wai Wai at Gunn Strip in Guyana in the 1990s.
The largest combs dimensions are: H: 9 CM, W: 22 CM, D: 1 CM. The smaller combs dimensions are: H: 8 CM, W: 17 CM, D: 1 CM. The miso's dimensions are: H: 23 CM, W: 3 CM, D: 3 CM. The seed belt's dimensions are: H: 7 CM, W: 84 CM, D: 0.5 CM.
The artifacts are in good condition, but do show signs of their age(please look at photos for further information).
These are a must have for collectors of tribal artifacts.
Items will be shipped well packed.
