This Karamojong necklace coms from the Karamoja sub-region, commonly known as Karamoja, is a region in Uganda. The necklace comes from the young woman in the last 4 photos. This necklace is from the end of the 20th century and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The Karamojong are a Nilotic pastoralist people in northeastern Uganda, known for their strong traditional culture, distinctive beadwork, warrior image, and deep connection to cattle, which define their wealth and status. Related to the Turkana of Kenya, they are semi-nomadic, living in harsh, arid lands, and maintain ancestral practices despite external pressures, with their society structured around age-sets, elders, and traditional rituals.
