Loetz Witwe is a historic glass manufacturer known for its production of high-quality art glass in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded in the town of Klostermühle, Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic) around 1836, the company was one of the first glass manufacturers to embrace the Art Nouveau style, and became famous for its innovative glass designs and techniques. It gained international acclaim by showcasing its work and winning awards at all the major world exhibitions during the 1890's and the first years of the new century, including the prestigious World’s Fair in Paris. Loetz often collaborated with prominent artists and architects (e.g. Franz Hofstötter, Marie Kirschner, Leopold Bauer, Koloman Moser, Otto Prutscher, Adolf Beckert, Josef Hoffmann, Dagobert Peche, Michael Powolny and others), which helped to cultivate a unique artistic identity for their glassware. This helped to establish Loetz as a leading name in decorative arts.
