Vintage japanischer Räuchergefäß in Fasanenform (Kiji), Takaoka Kupferware, Minehou, Tomobako-Box - Japan - Shōwa Zeit (1926-1989)
This vintage Japanese incense burner (kōro) is a fine example of Takaoka copperware by renowned metal artist Minehou, modeled after a pheasant (kiji).
Crafted from cast metal, the burner features a detailed openwork design along the back, allowing incense smoke to drift through. The surface has developed a rich, mottled patina over decades, with soft green and gold hues that lend it an antique, well‑loved character. The bird’s elegant form, with its long, sweeping tail, is a classic motif in Japanese metalwork, symbolizing longevity and good fortune.
It comes complete with its original presentation box and wooden plaque, confirming its authenticity. The burner is in excellent vintage condition, with no damage, its patina only serving to highlight its authenticity and collectible value.
A sophisticated piece for the tea room or altar, embodying the refined craftsmanship of traditional Japanese metal art.
