Vintage Japanese Suzuki Bowl-Back Mandolin No.6 - Crafted by Suzuki Violin Co. Kiso-Fukushima - 63cm, 680g
Overview:
A beautiful vintage Japanese bowl-back mandolin (Neapolitan style), model No. 6, crafted by the highly respected Suzuki Violin Co. (鈴木バイオリン製造) at their historic Kiso-Fukushima factory. Suzuki is globally renowned for its exceptional stringed instruments, and this mandolin showcases the fine Japanese lutherie traditions of mid-20th-century craftsmanship. It is an excellent piece for both musicians and collectors of vintage acoustic instruments.
Design & Craftsmanship:
* Model: No. 6 (Kiso-Fukushima factory production)
* Body Style: Classic round bowl-back body composed of multiple nested wooden ribs, offering traditional resonance and sweet tonal projection.
* Details: Features an elegant multi-layered soundhole rosette, an integrated pickguard with natural floral/leaf motifs, and original tuning mechanisms with white pegs.
* Provenance: Retains its original internal paper label reading "TRADE MARK S SUZUKI Mandolin / Suzuki Violin Co. / No. 6 KISO-FUKUSHIMA".
Condition:
Good vintage condition with normal signs of age and light handling. The body structure is solid, the neck is straight, and the wooden ribs remain well-joined. The finish exhibits a beautiful natural patina with minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and typical aging marks as shown in the pictures. Tuning keys turn properly. Please review all close-up photographs for a detailed look at the body finish, label, and hardware.
