Vase - Kupfer - Japan - Hata Zōroku 秦 蔵六

Description: This is a refined Japanese copper vase by Heian Zōroku 平安蔵六, made in a slender double-gourd form. The vase has an elegant elongated silhouette, with a narrow mouth, rounded upper body, sharply tightened waist, and fuller lower body. The surface is finished in a dark greenish-black patina, giving it a quiet, aged bronze-like atmosphere. Across the body are irregular gold-toned decorative patches, resembling abstract clouds, islands, or natural weathered patterns. These gold accents contrast beautifully with the dark patinated copper surface and give the piece a modern yet traditional expression. The overall design is simple but sophisticated. The narrow neck and balanced gourd shape make it suitable for displaying a single flower branch, tea-room flower arrangement, or as an independent decorative object. The restrained form, dark patina, and scattered gilt decoration reflect the refined taste often associated with Japanese metalwork and tea ceremony aesthetics. Artist: Hata Zōroku 秦蔵六, often written with the Kyoto-style title Heian Zōroku 平安蔵六 is the name of a distinguished Kyoto metalworking lineage that has continued from the late Edo period to the present. The first-generation Hata Zōroku, born in 1823 in Yamashiro Province, studied casting under the famous Ryūbundō workshop and later became highly respected for his mastery of bronze and copper work, especially pieces inspired by ancient Chinese Zhou and Han dynasty bronzes. The Zōroku family became known for refined casting techniques, elegant patinated surfaces, and distinctive gold-applied decoration. The first generation also produced important official works, including imperial and governmental seals during the late Edo and Meiji periods. The name Zōroku has been inherited by successive generations, and works by this lineage remain highly regarded among collectors of Japanese metalwork and tea ceremony utensils. NOTICE
