Up for auction is a beautifully preserved 1941 5 Yuan issue from the historic Bank of Communications, printed during the Republic of China era. This lot offers a complete view of both the obverse and reverse sides, allowing for absolute verification of its premium state of preservation.

The obverse features an exquisite and historically significant central vignette depicting a large steamship ocean liner navigating through calm open waters, symbolising trade and communication. This detailed oval engraving is beautifully flanked by two multi-coloured orange, yellow, and brown security rosettes displaying the 'Five Yuan' denomination characters. The entire layout is framed by an intricate charcoal-grey geometric border, accented by crisp red serial numbers and official red authority stamps.

The reverse presents a balanced, classical design framed in deep brown and tan ink tones. A large central numerical '5' is anchored inside an elaborate security medallion above the '1941' year date. This central section is flanked by 'FIVE YUAN' text panels, two printed signature panels at the bottom, and bright red serial numbers. The lower margin notes production by the legendary Commercial Press, Ltd.
