This lot offers a highly desirable comparison set containing specimens from both official security printing companies contracted for the issue: the British American Bank Note Company (BABN) and the Canadian Bank Note Company (CBNC). This lot offers a complete view of both the obverse and reverse sides for both pieces, allowing for absolute verification of their pristine state of preservation. The obverse of each note features an extraordinarily sharp, high-relief portrait engraving of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the right side. The centre fields prominently display the stylized Centennial maple leaf logo alongside bilingual text, framed by an intricate, green geometric safety background medallion. The crisp red serial numbers are symmetrically printed across the top, while the lower area features the official printed signatures of Deputy Governor J.R. Beattie and Governor L. Rasminsky. The reverse showcases a magnificent architectural scene featuring a detailed engraving of the original Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, which was later destroyed by fire in 1916. The landscape vignette is framed by matching green ornamental guilloché patterns and bold bilingual commemorative headers reading "CENTENNIAL OF CANADIAN CONFEDERATION" and "LE CENTENAIRE DE LA CONFÉDÉRATION CANADIENNE". Professionally authenticated and certified by PMG, with the BABN note achieving a grade of 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ, and the CBNC note achieving a superior grade of 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ. Both notes carry PMG's coveted Exceptional Paper Quality (EPQ) designation, awarded exclusively to notes that are entirely original, free from any artificial chemical or physical modifications, and possess outstanding eye appeal. A true investment-quality masterpiece for collectors specialising in Canadian numismatics, printer-signature varieties, Queen Elizabeth II currency issues, or elite registry set showpieces.
