Traditional African mask belonging to the Kwele (or Bakwélé) people
widespread in Gabon, Congo, and Cameroon
The mask offered is an "Ekuk" or "Pipibuze" - it features a flat,
heart-shaped face, usually painted with white kaolin (even partially),
symbolizing light, surrounded by stylized horns reminiscent of
antelope horns.
It was used during ceremonies to bring balance to the village and to
decorate the walls of homes.
