Boch Frères Keramis Art Nouveau vase, Emile Diffloth, 1856-1933 Exceptional Art Nouveau vase of iridescent ceramic decorated with a floral design. This vase was designed by Boch Frères Keramis in collaboration with Emile Diffloth and can be found in the catalogue. At the bottom of the base is the inscription B.F.K, 1 and number 252, part 2, which corresponds to Boch Frères Keramis, first iridescent series decor 252. This series, published in 1901 in collaboration with Emile Diffloth, is mentioned in a special catalogue issued for the collaboration of the ceramist and the Boch Frères company. Emile Auguste Diffloth (1856-1933) is a world-renowned French ceramist. Dimensions: height 23 cm x Ø 13 cm (vase belly). In perfect condition Émile Diffloth was a highly influential French master ceramist and decorator who designed exceptional Art Nouveau ceramics. He is world-renowned for the development of innovative glazes, particularly crystalline glazes and metallic iridescent finishes. Notable design periods and collaborations • Boch Frères Kéramis (Belgium, 1899-1910): As artistic director of this renowned Belgian pottery, Diffloth designed highly sought-after amphora and baluster vases. These pieces are often characterized by dark, dripping iridescent glazes, organic forms, and stylized floral motifs, characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. • University City Pottery (USA, ca. 1910-1911): He was brought to Missouri along with iconic ceramists such as Taxile Doat and Adelaide Alsop Robineau. His rare American porcelain works are characterized by natural elements such as bees, maple seed pods, and special green crystal glazes. • Collaborations and later works by Milet: At the beginning of his career, he regularly collaborated with Félix-Optat Milet on intricate polychrome enameled stoneware.
