Sen no Rikyū (1522–1591)
Sen no Rikyū is regarded as the most influential master in the history of the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu).
He perfected the philosophy of wabi-cha, emphasizing simplicity, tranquility, humility, and spiritual harmony.
Rather than valuing luxurious utensils and extravagant settings, Rikyū sought beauty in imperfection, natural materials, and quiet simplicity.
