About Macallan Edition No. 4 ----------------------------- Edition No. 4 is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky released in July 2018. It is the fourth entry in the distillery's highly celebrated six-part "Edition Series". This specific bottle was created as a tribute to the structural design and engineering of The Macallan's new £140 million subterranean distillery in Speyside. Packaging Color: Bright Green (designed to reflect the innovative green roof of the new distillery). Cask Composition: Crafted using a precise combination of 7 different types of European and American oak casks, heavily focusing on first-fill, sherry-seasoned oak from renowned cooperages like Tevasa and Vasyma. Tasting Profile Color: Burnished copper. Nose: Bold and rich. It opens with intense honey, sweet toffee, and citrus zest, backed by underlying notes of nutmeg, ginger, and mature oak. Palate: Structurally robust and oily. It tastes strongly of sherry-soaked raisins, dark chocolate, vanilla, and warm gingerbread spice. Finish: Medium-to-long, very warming, with lingering notes of cinnamon, sweet oak, and a twist of lemongrass. 90 Points Whisky Advocate (2019) Seven types of European and American oak casks were used for maturation. Lively on the nose, with orange, malt, sherry, and sweet oak. Initially, a touch hot on the palate, with sherry and cloves, then toffee and vanilla, red apples, figs, and cocoa.
