Item Description Blue and Gold Crane Pair Vase, Original Wooden Box A deep royal blue vase decorated with a pair of cranes rendered in gold, a motif traditionally known in Japan as "夫婦鶴 meoto-zuru" (husband-and-wife cranes). The cranes' bodies and beaks are painted in gold, standing out vividly against the rich blue ground, and the rim is further accented with gold. Since cranes mate for life, the pair has long been used in Japanese decorative arts as a symbol of marital harmony, longevity, and good fortune. The vase comes in its original wooden box (共箱 tomobako).
