Tiger (虎) - Masayuki Miyata (宮田雅之,1926–1997) - Japan (Ohne mindestpreis)

Title: Tiger (虎) Artist: Masayuki Miyata (宮田雅之,1926–1997) Technique: Silkscreen (Serigraph) Mark: Artist’s red seal on the sheet Paper Size: 52.2 × 61.5 cm (20.55 × 24.41 in) Image Size: 43.5 × 53 cm (17.13 × 20.87 in) Paper: Cotton paper This is a classic tiger-themed silkscreen print by the renowned Japanese artist Masayuki Miyata (宮田雅之), created circa 1980–1990. Against a solid black background, the artist depicts a reclining tiger using lustrous metallic gold ink with minimalist, flowing lines. The tiger stripes are clearly layered, lending the work a modern, elegant quality with strong artistic expression and commanding presence. The print bears the artist’s red seal at the lower left and is marked with N‑BRESDIN JAPON along the margin — a special export mark used by the artist for Western markets, confirming its Japanese origin. In Japanese culture, the tiger symbolizes strength, courage, and protection, making it one of Miyata’s most representative and highly collectible motifs. Due to age, the paper shows minor oxidation; the print is in good overall condition. This piece is sold without a frame. The images are only for showing the effect after framing.
