ANATOMICAL AND PALEONTOLOGICAL DETAILS
This lot features a finely detailed, scaled osteological replica of a complete Spinosaurus aegyptiacus skeleton. The sculpture reflects the most recent paleontological interpretations regarding the unique anatomy of this African theropod.
Cranial Morphology: The skull exhibits the typical elongated, narrow rostrum, equipped with unserrated conical dentition. This morphology, combined with the retracted nares positioned high on the snout, highlights the species' strong adaptation to a strictly piscivorous diet and a semi-aquatic lifestyle.
Post-Cranial Structure: The skeleton faithfully reproduces the iconic hypertrophied neural spines on the dorsal vertebrae, which in life supported the characteristic "sail".
Posture: The model is mounted in a biomechanically consistent pose based on recent theories regarding the animal's center of gravity, illustrating the locomotion of a top predator adapted to fluvial and coastal environments.
MATERIALS AND TECHNICAL EXECUTION
The replica is crafted from high-resolution polymer resin, allowing it to capture microscopic anatomical details such as nutrient foramina and bone sutures.
The surface finish is entirely hand-painted. Layered pigments and acrylic wash techniques accurately reproduce the appearance of permineralization and the typical taphonomy of genuine fossils extracted from the sandy matrices of North Africa.
DISPLAY AND MOUNTING
The model is supported by stick plexiglass
An elegant identification plaque completes the lot, giving the specimen a professional appearance. It is an ideal centerpiece for natural history collections, academic environments, or private exhibitions.
