Magnificent cache pot with handles, produced by Herend Hungary - “Queen Victoria “ Collection , marvelous hand painted, with lovely various butterflies and flowers, gold trimmed, in good condition. The manufactory in Herend was established by Vince Stingl in 1826. At first it produced stoneware. In 1839 this situated near lake Balaton factory was bought by Mór Fischer. This year they started manufacturing porcelain. Herend won a golden medal at the first World Exhibition in London in 1851. Next exhibitions became important for Herend factory as a venue to present new product lines. In 1872 Emperor Francis Joseph made the manufactory oficially the Supplier to the Imperial and Royal Court. The colorful floral and foliate “Queen Victoria “ pattern includes butterflies and other garden insects and was first introduced in 1851 for the First World Exhibition in London. Reportedly, Queen Victoria herself, was taken with the design and purchased a set, leading to the pattern being named in her honor. According to Herend literature, "this Chinese-influenced pattern demands the skills of Herend's most talented and experienced painters." It is in good condition , few chips on the base, one of them poorly repaired, marked with Herend blue shield mark on the back of the base, NO other chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of the description.
