The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 This is a Showa period ceramic oni demon mask, made as a striking wall-hanging piece for warding off evil and misfortune. Oni masks are often associated with protective folk belief, seasonal rituals, kagura performance, and related Japanese performing traditions. The mask has a glossy black-painted surface, with vivid red details around the eyes and inside the mouth. The fangs and eyeballs are painted in a gold colour, giving the face a strong and theatrical presence. Pale beige hair, possibly horsehair or a similar fibre, is attached near the forehead, adding to the fierce expression. The reverse is finished in matte black and fitted with a cord for hanging. Fair to good vintage condition. There are signs of age and use, including surface scuffs, small areas of paint or glaze loss, minor blemishes, and fading to the cord.
