Description: A white copper incense burner by Shugoro Hasuda, modeled in the form of a seated rabbit. The surface is softly matte, with simplified ears and facial features, a geometric textile pattern across the back, and plum blossoms carved on the reverse. Two small openings are set into the top, and the piece is titled “Rabbit in Bloom,” as written on the inside of the tomobako lid. The underside of the cover bears an impressed mark, and the work comes with its original signed wooden tomobako and leaflet. He studied in the casting department of Tokyo Fine Arts School and trained under Toyochika Takamura. He received major distinctions including the Japan Art Academy Prize and the Order of Culture.
