Two beautifully carved wooden locks, used on shutters of mudbrick granary sheds where the harvest is kept.
Both ethnic groups use nicely carved locks on these shutters. The largest lock is of Bambara origin with a stylised human head and long rabbit-like ears. Beautiful dark patina. Dim.; 41 x 40 cm.
The smaller lock has a design of a stylised antelope. Nice brown patina. This lock is of Dogon origin. Dim.; 30 x 24 cm. Both locks were collected in Mali in the late 1990,s.
