Ein eleganter sechs-teiliger Seiden-Faltbildschirm mit einem Herbstgarten und fliegenden Chidori. - Papier, Seide - Katō Eishū (1873–1939) - Japan - Taishō-Zeit (ca. 1920)
A refined six-panel folding screen (byōbu) on silk, decorated in ink and pigments with a luxuriant autumn garden. A group of susuki (pampas grass), flowering plants, and trailing foliage unfolds across a luminous gold ground beside a gently meandering stream extending from the left, while a pair of chidori birds fly gracefully overhead.
The composition achieves a harmonious balance between decorative richness and open space, evoking the tranquil beauty of the autumn season. Attributed to Katō Eishū (1873–1939), with a seal in the lower right corner.
The screen is finished with a lacquered wooden frame.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in good condition, with wear to the silk and small areas of fading. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
